Seeking the solace of nightfall, Steve Ehret paints canvases filled with phantasmal creatures and landscapes. Spindly characters and shadowy trees evoke a feeling of eeriness and paranoia. Dual in nature, these muted monsters expose their truths and deceptions vividly in dreamlike ambience, suspicious of who is lurking behind and what agenda they possess.
Influenced by the sublimity of the untamed, Steve’s paintings place emphasis on trepidation, horror and a surreality of conscious and unconscious realms of experiences. Steve contrasts grim tales of harmony and separateness within his work, using acrylics, spray paint and ink.
