Come down to Millworks and explore Las Vegas
Photography by: Heather Protz
From straight images to composites.
From the streets to the fantasy.
Before there were Northside Lofts, there was Heather Protz the unofficial photographer of the Northside. A few years ago, my friend, Heather (former curator and great supporter of Millworks Gallery) relocated to Las Vegas. I personally invite you to come and see new work and old friends at Millworks Gallery next Saturday evening from 5 – 10pm.

After a four-month national search with over 40 candidates, SPACES is very
excited to announce that Christopher Lynn will lead the alternative art gallery into its fourth
decade. “As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary with a stellar exhibition of artists who have
shown at the gallery in the last ten years, this is an excellent time to bring on Chris and provide
the gallery and the region with a fresh perspective,” notes John C. Williams, SPACES board
president.
“Christopher has an amazing knowledge of contemporary art and of emerging artists. His
infectious energy and passion will invigorate the board, staff, and our supporters,” says
Williams. “I am very excited that Christopher and his wife, Maria Samuelson, a performance
artist, will join the Cleveland arts community.” Read the rest of this entry »

“Arts LIFT,” a University of Akron summer arts program offered to Akron Public Schools’ high school students, will take place June 20 – July 3, 2008 in England. This will be the eighth year that the Myers School of Art Arts LIFT program, conceived and directed by UA’s Art Education Assistant Professor Elisa Gargarella, will give young artists an opportunity to explore visual art and culture beyond the boundaries of their art classrooms. The program is funded through the Lola Isroff Fund for Teens (LIFT).
This year, four alumni Arts LIFT participants will spend two weeks in England with students from UA’s Myers School of Art with professors Elisa Gargarella and Susan McKiernan. Chialla Geib, Deanna D’Amico, Marissa Harper, and Paul Levack were selected from a pool of 40 former participants to join the educational tour. These students were selected based on letters of recommendation from teachers as well as impressive essays on how Arts LIFT has impacted their lives and what a study abroad program would do for them.
